Call: AI at Universities of Applied Sciences

Call for posters and industrial systems from AI groups at Universities of Applied Sciences and industrial partners. The work will be presented in an exhibition.

Based on this year's major topic AI and Automation one hot spot will be AI in cognitive systems for production machine applications, distributed embedded automation, quality inspection and vision, multisensory and information fusion, intelligent sensor/actuator based networks in plant environments and others.

Applied research groups at Universities of Applied Sciences traditionally focus on the applicability of AI in the above mentioned fields financed by governmental grants or bilateral research and development projects with industrial partners.

The results of applied research will be presented in a poster and systems exhibition, which is defined as an orthogonal layer to the scientific programme.  The conference invites original work presented in applied research and industrial related papers from the applied and industrial areas of AI. Papers and demonstrations emphasizing the relation between AI and Automation, especially Automotive, Avionics, Telecommunication, industrial Image Processing and Pattern Recognition, Machine and Plant Engineering, are particularly welcome. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to

  • Agents
  • AI and engineering
  • AI in programmable ASICs
  • AI in embedded systems
  • Cognitive modeling
  • Cognitive systems
  • Evolutionary computation
  • Human-machine-interaction
  • Information Classification
  • Information Fusion
  • Knowledge acquisition
  • Knowledge representation and reasoning
  • Machine learning and data-mining
  • Model-based systems
  • Neural networks
  • Ontologies
  • Reasoning under uncertainty
  • Robotics
  • Vision and perception

Submission Guidelines

Submit a 500 word abstract of your contribution. The abstract must include the title, the author's names and affiliation, the motivation, the method, experimental results and a conclusion. All abstracts must be written in English. Submissions should be sent by email to the workshop organizers with "AI and UAS Submission" as subject. Please indicate whether you would like to present a poster or an industrial system. The submission is electronic, in pdf-format.

Depending on the particular focus of the abstracts and/or on the outcomes of the discussions at the KI 2009, we are considering some form of post-publication. At least one author per accepted abstract must register for the workshop and present the contribution.
